On the 26th February, 2015, at the Commodities Group Limited Annual General Meeting; it was announced that the company has changed its name to Seafarms Group Limited (Seafarms).
The ‘Seafarms’ name reflects our evolution over the past three years from being solely an aquaculture developer to now becoming a substantial aquaculture operator as well. We continue to steadily progress Project Sea Dragon – our large-scale, greenfield asset development project – but with the acquisition of the Seafarm prawn farm, the Crystal Bay Prawns® brand and Coral Sea Farm in Queensland, Seafarms is now also one of the largest aquaculture asset operators in Australia.
The adoption of the name Seafarms better reflects the company’s new business and our ongoing strategic intent – developing and undertaking acquaculture operations to produce the highest quality seafood.
Our new name also preserves the well-established Seafarm name and history in Australia – established over 30 years ago to become one of the most respected and long-standing aquaculture operations – and pays homage to the pioneering work of its founder Mr Ervin Vidor AM, a pioneer of the industry. Seafarms will continue to build upon this foundation and – with Australia poised on the doorstep of the world’s largest aquatic protein demand growth – will continue to seek other opportunities in this emerging industry. We are very excited about these changes and the progress of our business to date. So keep watching as we roll-out our new branding and corporate identification process this year, continue to progress Project Sea Dragon, and the production of our outstanding Crystal Bay Prawns in Queensland.
